How difficult is it to replace the front bumper on a 1998 Mondeo?

I need a new one but the garage quote is diabolical. Could I do it myself with a socket set, a jack and of course a new bumper? How much would the new bumper cost?|||Trust me its very easy!

All the bumper is help on by is a few bolts.

What you need to do it locate all the bolts and then it will slide off forwards away from the car. The bolts can be found in 3 places;

-Under the front grill

-Under the bumper it self. On most cars you will need to detatch the bottom engine cover first as it bolts on to the bumper as well as the car it self.

-In the wheel wells

To make sure you are undoing the right bolts, just follow the bumper along, and when you come to a bolt, just make sure the bumper is attached to it. 15min and your done

Hope this helps

Andy|||i don't have a visual on the car ,not familiar to me,but yes you should,they vary in price so much because of chrome,plastic/painted cover .if you live in the US you might try partstrain.com for assistance,or some other body parts seller in your locale.|||Bumpers range in price so much, it is hard to say the cost, That old, I would only look for a used one from the junk yard.

And yes, it is fairly simple to change them out. BUT, be careful, you might set off the 'airbags' if installed. That will get expensive. Sounds stupid, but to lessen that from happening, 'Disconnect the battery', but that does not allow you to be rough with the bumper, the sensor may still get tripped.
