How can I make plastic bumper pliable to remove a dent?

There is a dent in my rear bumper. I'm able to reach underneath the bumper with a piece of wood and push the dent back into place from behind. However, it won't stay in place. It goes back to the way it was after I stop pushing. Is there a way to make the bumper pliable? Will heat from a hair dryer work?|||yes the hair dryer should work, so would a 100 watt light bulb in a drop light, but I like your hair dryer idea even better actually what you want to do is heat the plastic carefully and gently push, Im hoping the heat will help the plastic form its shape back. just be carefull and do not overdo it . and is their any way to cut a length of wood and wedge it behind the bumper? to give the plastic more support?|||Hair drier might work. May not be hot enough though.

Park the car in the sun so the bumper is already warm. Then try it.

A heat gun would work better.|||Heat gun or torch. Works every time. Just don't hold it on there too long or the paint will bubble.
