Tear off as muich as you can, then use toothpase for the residue!|||WD40 will take the adhesive off.|||yeah autozone sells a product called oops! that is actually the name oops. it removes bumper stickers. very easy just pore it on a cloth. soak the cloth in it. then pas it a few times over the stickers you wanna take out. leave it for a while then repeat it again. you gotta do it a few times to loosen the old glue on the stickers. finally see if you can peal it with your nail. most likely it will almost completely come off. so for the left over repeat the process again. it might take 15 min or 30 to take it off but you will have them gone. i deal with this all the time when i detail cars. the process is easy but feels long because you have to do it over and over. the oops wont hurt paint or discolor the bumper. for better safty after you remove the stickers .....well if your bumpers are painted basically the color of the car then use wax on the entire bumper. if it is like a plastic rubber bumper then just use back to black..also sold in autozone. on entire bumper. just to make it lok even because the stickers keep the spots they were on from fading. so to give it an even look just try what i told you. it will definatly improve the look of the car.

Also 3M makes an item called a pinstriping eraser that might take it off too. Part number for that is 07498. fiberglass is what corvettes are made of, ridged material. your bumper cover is a more resilent material.





it can be fixd though. if it has a crack in it, it will need some sort of reinforcement for it to hold.





it ill be best to remove the bumper overlay from the car. there should be clips hplding it onto the bumper frame support. don't be surprised to find styrofoam inserts behind the overlay.





not hom much clearance you have between the overlay and the underlayinf bumper support.





wash the bumper throughly with hot water and soap. a little paint thinner or mineral spirits to remove any wax will help. clean outside as well as the inside. the removal of wax will prevent embedding it into the paint when you sand. if not, you will have paint problems.





you can use fiberglas to build up path on the inside of the overlay to fix the crack. cut a sheet of glass cloth slightly larger than the crack. let it extend about an inch or so beyond the edges. mix the fiberglass resin and the harderner per instructions'





coat the interior of the overlay with resin/harderner and quickly embedd the cloth into the mixture. alernatively, you can soak the cloth in hardner and lay it onto the bumper overlay. you have to act quick in that it will set up quickly.





use a popscicle stick to push the cloth down and remove any air bubbles.





you will need to apply at least two or three layers to the bumper overlay, alternating the lay of the cloth.





on the final layer, make sure the resin mixture covers all of the exposed cloth.





you can no sand the exteriour surface of the damaged bumper with 80 grit sand paper to smooth out the edges. auto body shop sell the correct filler for your bumper.





follow the directions and sand smooth. finish by applying sanable primer and et sanding;





do not paint if you are havimg your car repainted. aerosol paints do not mix well with modern auto painting systems.





make sure that when they repaint the bumper sections that they use the proper additive to insure adhesion and flex to the paint.





if not it will flake off when it is tapped or sees a large temperature change.





ps if the crack is not that large, jb weld works great. any autoparts should have it.





i have used both methods depending on the amount of damage.|||YOU CAN BUY A NEW AFTER MARKET COVER FOR LESS THAN 100.00 . Dupont, PPG, and or Sikkens are pretty standard in the industry. Stay away from OMNI (off brand of ppg) or sherwin williams (the KIA of paint). Most bargain shops are using lower end product, so be careful. It may not seem like a big deal, but a year down the road when the clear is yellowing/cracking it looks terrible. You will always get a better deal if the piece is new, and off the vehicle. If you shop around, you should get it done for 150 with quality clear.

Okay just kidding. Fiberglass isn't your best choice.Your bumper cover is made of polyurethane, or ABS. Fiberglass wont stick well to that substrate. BONDO makes a two part epoxy system that stays flexible. Holes can be repaired fairly easily. I can't remember the name of the product, but it comes in a small box with green print. I have seen it sold at AutoZone, but usually get it from the paint supply house.





Once you repair the hole you will still have to paint it to match, and that can be pricey unless you are willing to just get a "fair" color match, like with a spray can.





I like the bumper sticker idea, but you can also check at this site and see if you can find a used part within your price range; http://car-part.com/|||You need a fiber glass repair kit. There is a fiber glass mess that you place over hole and you mix up the fiber glass resin to place of the mess and smooth it out. Once dry you have to sand it smooth and prime and then sand the primer and spray the color. Then you have to wet sand and buff.

I want to wash my son's crib bumper, but I'm not sure its supposed to be washed like that. There are no care tags on it. I certainly don't want to ruin it, but I wondered if anyone knew that if I washed it on gentle and line dried it, if it would ruin it?|||We washed ours several times in the washer and drier and never had an issue. How difficult is it to replace the front bumper on a 1998 Mondeo?

I need a new one but the garage quote is diabolical. Could I do it myself with a socket set, a jack and of course a new bumper? How much would the new bumper cost?|||Trust me its very easy!


All the bumper is help on by is a few bolts.


What you need to do it locate all the bolts and then it will slide off forwards away from the car. The bolts can be found in 3 places;


-Under the front grill


-Under the bumper it self. On most cars you will need to detatch the bottom engine cover first as it bolts on to the bumper as well as the car it self.


-In the wheel wells


To make sure you are undoing the right bolts, just follow the bumper along, and when you come to a bolt, just make sure the bumper is attached to it. 15min and your done

Goo Gone does work but only if it can soak through (not likely) so go with the hair dryer on a hot day to peel it off and then use the Goo Gone when you can see the glue from the sticker. I like taking an old sock and turn it inside out and rub it after the Goo Gone has soaked for a while. Try and get the Goo Gone Orange Spray Gel as it works best for horizontal surfaces like your bumper.|||I find serveral good ideas up here already but you can also do it with WD-40. After peeling off as much as you can, spary it with WD-40 and let it soak. It breaks down the glue and you should be able to get the rest of it off without much problem.


|||i have found that if you heat it up with a blow dryer and peal off as much as possible then lather the area with peanut butter and rub it in the peanut butter will remove all of the residue of the sticker ||| spray it with windex or anything with ammonia. Soaked it well and keep it soaked. Leave it on overnight for best results or at least a few hours then just peel it off. Should come off easily.|||try using very hot water on it. maybe boiling hot water. just pour it on the sticker over and over. the heat will cause the adhesive to melt. once you get it off clean the area with goo gone or windex|||Peel off what you can first. I hit my rear bumper and don't know the best way to get rid of the scratches on it. My car is a 2005 Jetta in which it can get expensive to replace the entire plastic bumper. It costs around $200. How much do those plastic scratch removers cost? How do you use them? I don't have any holes in my bumper, just a lot of scraps.|||If you can get your fingernail into one of the scratches as you run your nail across the surface, the scratches are too deep too buff or polish out. It must be re-painted. If the scratches are through the paint and primer, and all the way down into the plastic, you need to fill those scratches with a special plastic repair material, and all the appropriate adhesion promoters, since the bumper is made of a plastic called TPO. Getting paint and filler to stick to TPO is like trying to get something to hold onto teflon. It will flake right offf at the next slightest impact. To remove the bumper, fix the scratches, paint the bumper and reinstall it will cost about 8 hrs labor and $100 in materials at a real body shop. You are looking at about $400-500. If you have to replace the bumper, add a couple hundred more. Personally, there is a reason they call them bumpers. Just touch it up. As soon as you fix it, somebody is gonna hit it again. Don't waste the money unless it's cracked or really ugly.|||Well, the best way to make scratches disappear on plastic is by using wax !! You can also try 'heat moulding' so that the surrounding plastic can be folded over the scratched area, giving a good appearance. However, please don't try this yourself, go to a trained mechanic, who will fix the problem at a cheaper rate !!

My bumper surface is uneven and not as shiny as rest of the car after reapinted?

my bumper got some dent and some scratches and I decide to have it repaint. after it is re-painted. my bumper surface is uneven (on the area where it had dent) and i feel the whole bumper isnt as shiny as rest of the car after reapinted. I noticed the surface is not even from certain angle when the light reflect on the bumper. i guess it may prolly cuz by the material they used to fill up the dent. is there anyway to get rip of the uneven surface, and make the paint as shiny as the rest of the car ? Car is only 1 yr old and I intend to keep everything new.|||Sanding the surface before paint has nothing to due with the quality of shine. Sanding the surface only give the paint a texture to bite into so in the future it wont peel off. the only reason for a dull surface is either the clear when they applied it had to much solvent and dried to quickly and had a die back. THe undeven texture in the previously damaged area is probably bad body work. the uneven surface is there to stay unless they will do the work over again. the dull bumber may be due to a sevear amount of orange peal which is easliy fixed by sanding down the high areas and then buffing and polishing.|||bumpers are plastic and are very hard to paint. that being said, the bumper was probably not sanded properly before being painted. take it back to the shop and complain (especially since you plan on keeping the car.) for future reference, no matter what happens, aftermarket paint is never as durable as factory paint and will chip more readily now.

1.Get the washcloth in one hand and place it directly underneath the sticker.


2.Then pour the goo gone onto and at the top of the sticker.


3.Let it soak.


4.with the microfiber cloth smoothly start picking at the edges of the sticker


5.The sticker should start slowly removing. now pour more remover behind the sticker( if possible)


6. Then start in a buffing motion with the micro fiber cloth out the sticker


7.Sticker should start coming off. once off. finish with the chammi.


8.Rub area after with water.





P.S. The goo gone at AutoZone sometimes comes with a white plastic device that they say to use. Personally i would not use it. I used that white utensil on my brand new 07 truck and it left little scratches where the sticker used to be. Just some advice. The best way is to not use it and do the steps i listed. How do I stop my baby from pulling the crib bumper down and banging his head?

My 8 1/2 month old just started pulling himself up. He pulls the crib bumper down and looks through the crib bars but he keeps hitting his head. Do they sell special bumpers that dont move? I'm reluctant to remove the bumpers because he turns a lot in his sleep and always bumps into them.|||@rainwriterm - where does it say the baby is being put in the crib to play while awake and active? My son goes to bed wide awake and sometimes plays around for 5-10 minutes.





Bumpers are not recommended and even if you do have one it is best to remove it as soon as a baby can pull his/herself up. The problem with that is the baby can stand on it and topple out of the crib. You are better off taken chances with him hitting his head (he won't hit his head hard and probably won't keep doing it if he does!) than falling out of the crib.|||@rainwriterm - so your kids never wake up in their crib? How long is it proper to leave bumper stickers from a political campaign on? At some point, keeping the stickers on for the losing candidate is counter productive. It shows an unwillingness to accept the results of the election and it is divisive. I am just not sure at what point, time wise, it becomes a problem.





This question is posted in etiquette, not politics. I know I have every RIGHT to leave the stickers on, but I feel that at a certain point it becomes classless. |||I say a few weeks. How much would it cost to replace my front bumper?

I hit a pole in the parking lot on accident and now my front bumper is about to come off. The good thing is it's only the front bumper that is damaged, nothing else. Any idea how much it would cost to replace it or repair it? I have a 2006 Honda Accord. The bumper looks like its about to come off but there are no dents or deformities, just a big scratch.|||if the bumper only needs to be reattached, it shouldnt be too bad.





i know its different, but i had a couple minor body repairs that consisted of a little spot welding to reattached the hood/trunk latches and each was less that 100 bucks. it depends on the body shop too.

also, the parking lot pole thing happened to me too, but i was able to manipulate it ith my hands and get it unstuck before any serious damage. now the bumper just hangs about a little less than an inch too low on one side and its kinda warped|||i would get it on ebay and install it yourself. it will run a few hundred though. mine costs about 300-400. but its aftermarket not oem.|||You mean bumper cover. The cover is made of plastic and you should be able to get new one for around $130. Bumper cover comes non-painted. You can bring it to a paint shop and color match for another $100. Once the holes are stretched or ripped in the bumper, it's impossible to keep on.

I scratch my car's (already scratchy) bumper yesterday. After that I began to notice other cars and even the very old ones had perfectly scratchless bumper. I bought my car in used condition which already had many scratches on its bumper. Yesterday I added one more to them as I failed to realize that distance between the car and the other object was a couple inches lesser than I had guessed|||Hey.


Some cars are hard to judge, especially when you back them into their spot. I rented a Dodge Magnum last year, and dont think I managed to back it into it's spot perfectly even once. I didn't rub anything though, because I was being too cautious! Maybe your car is one of those that's just hard to judge when it comes to parking.

If you have a brand new GM bumper painted and installed on your car, then it will probably cost around $1200 for the part, labor, material and tax. They are very hard to find used and they are not cheap. This is all that is available in the country and the cheapest one is $300. Most of the old used ones are cracked or warped.

If the sticker is vinyl, try using a hair dryer to soften the material and pull it off when soft|||W D 40 works fine, just don't over do it. don't rub too hard, that is bad on the paint.|||Goo Gone or Simple Green from Wal-Mart will take off the adhesive.|||baby wipes.|||use warm hair dryer to loosen glue.


then use finger nail polish remover to finish taking any left on glue off.|||If it is vinyl, use a hairdryer to soften it and peel it off, then do the WD-40 thing.|||Put in on a window. Or if you must heat up the glue to take sticker off then Goo Gone to remove excess glue. Pls do not do this to your car.|||Use a hair dryer to lift the sticker and weaken the stickyness and Goo-gone or WD40 to remove the residue.





Personally, I think the WD40 is better for the paint. The Goo Gone really screws up your skin so I can only imagine what it does to the finish on levels that you can not see.|||just use some heat after the elections pull the thing up to the house or the garage and use a blow dryer and a plastic scraper to remove the sticker then some tar gone or goo gone for the glue|||Any autobody shop should have a heat gun. Maybe back-tape it to the inside of your rear window? If you still opt for the paint, try this method: Don't peel the plastic backing completely off the entire sticker, just peel about an inch or so off both ends, and leave most of the backer on in the middle. Now stick it on using just the exposed ends. After the election, carefully slide a thin screwdriver or a putty knife behind the area the backer is still on (in the middle). Slide the tool to either side and gradually pull the sticker off the car. If you still have some residual "gum" or sticker left on the car, any auto parts store will carry products specifically designed to remove bumper stickers (I don't remember the name of it.) Good luck to yourself %26amp; Mr. Peirce! :)|||Don't put it on the car. It WILL screw up the paint.


Put it on the window. If it's on glass, it will come off easily. Trust me, I've had many, many stickers on my cars over the years. I change them every few months, when I get bored, find better ones, the existing ones fade, etc.





Put it on the back window and when you are ready to remove it, get a square razor blade, start in one corner of the sticker, and scrape away. It should peel off in big pieces and be off in just a few minutes. Then, if there's any glue left over just Windex it and scrub and it will come off pretty easily as well. The whole process takes about 10 minutes. Vinyl stickers remove the easiest, the ones printed on clear plastic are harder to remove.|||okay, first of all. How long has the sticker been there? If it has been there long, it's possible that the rest of the paint has faded a bit, and if you remove the sticker, it may closer to the original color than the rest of the car. But if that isn't a consideration, try a hair dryer, but protect the surrounding paint with cloth or heavy weight paper. The coverage is for mechanical components only.. engine, trans, axle, suspension, steering, A/C, electronics, brakes, etc. Body Panels, trim, door panels, glass, lenses, etc are non mechanical items and generally not covered. You should have received contract info that went over all of this. If you lost it I would contact the warranty provider and request another copy.

My subaru bumper cover is slightly compressed. Do shops give free estimates for actual damage to the bumper?

I am so confused. I was in an accident, and my back bumper cover was slightly compressed. (Looks like a shopping cart grazed it.) I was backing out of my drive way and a car hit me in 35 mile speed zone. My air bags didn't go off. I am concerned there my be some damage to the actual bumper. I took my car to have it appraised, but the appraisal was for the bumper cover only. The shop said the bumper cover would have to be taken off for a complete damage report. Do I have to pay for this? Every one has lead me to believe that the only was to know if there is actual rather than cosmetic damage is to have the bumper cover fixed. If there is damage, of course, I want it fixed. However, I don't want to pay my insurance deductible to have the bumper cover replaced for cosmetic reasons. (Like I stated, it looks like it was slightly nicked.) My insurance company is sending an appraiser out on Tuesday. Will I have to pay to have underneath the bumper looked at?|||How big is the damage? Depth and leangth of the damage, including location will determine whether its a straight replacement or repair.





Underneath bumper? Do they mean the bumper beam?





You should just need to repair the damage part, but some material cannot be fixed, hence they'll need to replace the whole plastic bumper.
