How do i mount a winch to a stock jeep bumper?

I have a 2004 jeep wrangler and I did not want spend money on getting a bumper for my winch if I didn't need it. I know that you can buy a mounting plate that fits onto the stock bumper, however it seems like it would need to go where the sway bar is now. So what do i do to mount it to the stock bumper?|||You cant and dont, your stock bumper is not reinforced enough to properly handle the forces a wench will make when pulling your jeep, It could all easly tear off. Have a little patience and save up for a good bumber, Also see if you can get lucking in bidding and check out e-bay there are some real good winch bumbers for your jeep. and if you or a freind knows how to weld call these guys and see what they have, you DIY, they have a kit for you. www.ironscorpion.com|||Those guys are wrong. I have a 97 wrangler with a stock bumper and a Warn 9500ti winch. Warn offers an adapter plate made of heavy duty 1/4" steel plate that bolts to the front frame rails with good grade 8 bolts. Here is the link. http://www.warn.com/truck/mounting-systems/winch_mounts.shtml Hope this helps.|||www.4wheelparts.com for many choices for a bumper...If you can find a fabricator they can build you one also...Here in northern calif they are plentiful so you can almost go with the low bid for the job...
